Sinjo YAP, a young cellist with a Malaysia background, was born in Taiwan in 2009. She started her journey in playing cello at the age of seven. Despite her young age, she has achieved success by winning the 1st prize in the Taiwan Local Competition in 2017,the Singapore Raffles Music Competition and brought the bronze award home with her. In addition, she received the 2nd prize in Euroasia String Competition and She took home the 2nd prize in 8th David Popper International Cello Competition held in Hungary despite being the youngest cellist in her category. In 2022, she own the 1st prize of Malaysia Selangor Symphony Orchestra National Concerto Competition and 3rd prize of Maestrovision Award International Cello Competition. She also attended masterclasses with Julie Dessureault, Attil Paszto, Ellie Solha Won, Vivian Sun, Florent Audibert, Bruo Ventocilla.
In 2021, she passed a successful entrance exam and was one of the youngest Malaysian to be admitted to the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna. She enrolled into the Young Talents Programme and studying under the tutelage of Prof. István Várdai. In 2023, Sinjo enrolled MGW-Musikgymnasium Wien for intensive musical training education.
