Jamie Smith read music at the University of Oxford, Magdalen College, and went on to complete a Masters degree at the National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music in Kyiv, Ukraine, graduating with a Distinction in Piano Performance.
During his studies he was awarded numerous awards and scholarships to participate in masterclasses both in the UK and overseas, and also won prizes at international piano competitions.
Jamie has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in many concert halls worldwide and has worked as a lecturer and pianist internationally. He has taught piano at the Ufa State Academy of Arts in Russia, Zhanjiang University in China and at the Sultan Idris Education University in Malaysia. He has worked for ABRSM as the Malaysia National Coordinator and has also been a mentor on ABRSM’s professional development panel.
Jamie is currently based in Cambridge where he continues to work as a teacher and accompanist, teaching privately as well as at Anglia Ruskin University and King’s College School. He has conducted examining tours for ABRSM in Hong Kong, China and all over the UK.
