Lu Ee Wong (violin)

Lu Ee is a passionate musician whose musical pursuits have brought her numerous opportunities across the globe. Currently based in Kuala Lumpur, she is a member in the first violin section of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO).

As an avid performer, Lu Ee has performed solo recitals, chamber music, as well as orchestra performances across the United States, Canada, Malaysia and Singapore. While pursuing her career abroad, she had the privilege to attend summer music festivals with talent grants and fellowships. These include the Madeline Island Music Camp, where she was part of the Fellowship String Quartet under the Jorja Fleezanis Fellowship, the Bowdoin International Music Festival, Arianna Chamber Music Festiva under the Arianna’s Collegiate Awards, as well as the Sunflower Music Festival under the Collegiate Quartet Award. In addition, Lu Ee had the opportunity to work with world renowned string quartets such as the Shanghai String Quartet, Jupiter, Enso, Arianna, Belcea, and the Ying Quartets to name a few.

Equally active in the local music scene, Lu Ee has engaged herself in a wide range of professional projects and performances. She has held the Concertmaster position for the Kuala Lumpur City Opera Orchestra and was a member of the Selangor Symphony Orchestra. She has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra of Malaysia as a guest musician. Beyond classical music performances, Lu Ee is also active in the local commercial and corporate music scene. She has performed for numerous companies such as Mercedes, Maybank, CIMB, Astro TV Productions etc. Lu Ee is also a sought after sessionist and recording artist, recording and collaborating with singers and TV broadcasting productions across Asia.

Lu Ee’s passion for music also extends beyond performances; she is a dedicated educator who strives to share her experiences and expertise through individual lessons, masterclasses, and workshops. Lu Ee’s students have won multiple prizes and awards in string competitions such as Euroasia String Competition and the Gold Star International String Competition. She is also currently coaching the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO) violin sections, preparing them for solo and orchestral performances. Lu Ee is currently a violin lecturer in the Music Department of Sunway University, on top of maintaining her ever growing private teaching studio. She has also served as a full time violin faculty at The International School @ Desa Parkcity.

Lu Ee holds a Masters Degree in Violin Performance (M.Mus) from the Schulich School of Music – McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She was under the tutelage of Felicia Moye, Violaine Melaçon, and Denise Lupien. Before moving to Canada, Lu Ee completed her Bachelor’s Degree (B. Mus) in Violin Performance at DePaul University (School of Music) in Chicago, USA, studying with Janet Sung. Besides specializing in violin, Lu Ee holds a Licentiate Certificate in Piano Performance from Trinity College of London. She is a collaborative pianist for international competitions and auditions, as well as a pianist in chamber music settings both locally and abroad.
