2023 Competition format:
Preliminary Round & Online Submission Assessment Period: Sept – October 2023
Both the Live and Online option is available for the Preliminary Round. Participants can choose to perform live at the Preliminary Rounds offered in Miri, Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, or to submit video recording.
Final Round: 11-12 November, 2023
The Final Round of the Malaysian Piano Competition 2023 will be held at Sunway University.
2023 Competition Period
- 1 – 15 August (11.59pm) – Application period for Preliminary Round
- 9-10 September – Miri Preliminary Round
- 23-24 September – Johor Bahru Preliminary Round
- 7-8 October – Kuala Lumpur Preliminary Round
- By 15 October 2023 – Announcement of Online Submission Results
- 11-12 November – Final Round at Sunway University, Bandar Sunway
2022 Categories
- Solo – Open Category (for all ages and levels)
- Solo – Young Artiste Category (Age 24 and under)
- Solo – Young Artiste Junior Category (Age 14 and under)
- Ensemble Category (Age 9 and Under, Age 12 and Under, Age 17 and Under, Age 18 and Above)

Exception to rule for live accompanist
Participants who choose the Online Submission option may record their performances with either a live or recorded (backing track/CD) accompaniment for the Preliminary Round submission.
Only live accompaniment is accepted for the Final Round.
